ARUN URGENT CARE

and

AUTOMATED BOOKING SYSTEM - PATIENT PARTNER

As you will be aware, the surgery has faced increasing demand over the last year, as have our neighbouring practices. Sadly we do not envisage that demand will decrease, especially with the closure of another practice in June. Therefore, we need to come up with new ways of managing appointments and making it easier for our patients to get appropriate contact.

We have been working collaboratively with the Coppice & Angmering, Willow Green, Park and Fitzalan surgeries to find ways in which we can better serve our patients. We hope to launch a new service for you very soon, tentatively called ‘Arun Urgent Care’, and more information will follow on this shortly.

As a result of the forthcoming launch of ‘Arun Urgent Care’, we have also taken time to evaluate our own current number of appointments and how we offer them to you. We have been listening to your comments through the Friends and Family Test feedback, and we know the difficulties you currently face.

We must ensure that we have enough appointments available for those patients who need to be seen urgently and on the same day. But we also know we need to offer more 3-day and routine appointments to those less-urgent concerns. We are going to make some changes that should, hopefully, make a difference in what we can offer to you. We’re introducing the amended appointment system on Monday 29th April 2019 and we hope that these changes, plus the launch of ‘Arun Urgent Care’ will mean our patients see a real difference in appointment availability.

However, this does mean that we will be removing the booking of ‘Same-Day’ appointments from our automated telephone booking system. This is so we can better manage what is being booked and signpost appropriately, where necessary. You will still be able to book 3-day and routine appointments through the system, and also check & cancel pre-booked appointments.
