Jo qualified as a RGN in St Georges hospital in 1987 and then worked on an acute medical ward before training as a midwife in 1989 and then working as a midwife.

In 1992 she went to Nepal to work as a nurse/midwife in a community health programe in the foothills of the Himalayas and then later worked in a Leprosy rehabilitation center in Pokhara.

On her return to the UK she worked in the A & E department before returning to midwifery at St Richard's hospital.

In 2004 she decided to go into general practice where she has remained and specialised in chronic disease management particularly in COPD,Asthma and Diabetes.
