New Patient Registration

We are now accepting new patient registrations and our patient registration policy does not discriminate on the grounds of race, gender, social class, age, religion, sexual orientation or appearance, disability or medical condition.

Please follow our process below.

Live within our Boundary Area?

Every GP practice has a specific registration area and our area map is displayed below. We will happily register any patient who lives in this area, please note you may be asked for proof of address. If you move, but remain in our practice area we can continue to be your GP, please let reception know of your new contact details.

Please note: if you move outside of the practice boundary you will be asked to register with another surgery that covers your new address.

Named GP for Every Patient

Changes to the General Medical Services (GMS) Contract means that all patients will have a named, accountable GP who will take lead responsibility for the co-ordination of all appropriate services. They will also work with other relevant health professionals, who are involved in your care, to ensure your care package meets your individual needs. This took effect in April 2015.

As usual at Westcourt you can, however, still see the GP of your choice, whenever you need to see a doctor. You don't have to see your registered GP if you prefer not to.

Please note - it is not always possible to see your named GP if you require an urgent appointment, but other appointments are available to book in advance (subject to availability) if you would like to discuss your care with your named GP.

If you are unsure as to who your GP is, please feel free to contact the surgery and a receptionist will be happy to advise.

Overseas Visitors

Anyone in England, regardless of nationality and residential status, is eligible to register and consult with a GP. This includes all overseas visitors, asylum seekers and refugees, students, and people on work visas, irrespective of immigration status.

Unless the patient chooses to be seen privately, practices are not permitted to charge overseas patients – including tourists – for registering or consulting with a GP.

Whereas all overseas patients are entitled to receive NHS primary care at a GP practice only certain patients have a right to free secondary care.

See the NHS Website for more information.

Temporary Services

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a Practice in the town or area where you are already registered.
